The west side of Going to the Sun Highway is closed at Avalanche Creek but the east side is open to Logan Pass weather permitting as of September 30, 2009.

The Going to the Sun Highway opened for the 2009 summer season on Friday June 26th. I visited all the main attractions on Saturday June 27th and everything is looking fantastic. There are a lot of wildflowers already in the lower elevations and seems like the bear grass is a bit more prevelant than in the past.

Glacier National Park, the "Crown of the Continent" is one of the most beautiful parks in the United States. Known for its scuplted mountian peaks that were carved from Glaciers sometimes on both sides of the mountain. Mt. Clements is one of the peaks. The "Red Bus" has grown to be a symbol of Glacier Park. On a nice day, the drivers will open the top so you enjoy the unparalled beauty of the park.

Going to the Sun Highway is an exciting, breathtaking 50 mile journey from one side of the Continental Divide to the other. The scenery is like nothing else in the world. Along the way you see Mountain Peaks, Glaciers, maybe a goat or two and sometimes maybe a Grizzly Bear, waterfalls and wildflowers and the Weeping Wall where water seams to come right out of the rock wall along the road side.
